Centre Court returns to Museum Tour

Visitors will be delighted to hear that as of today, Centre Court is once again a feature of the award-winning Blue Badge Tour of the grounds offering exclusive insight behind the scenes at Wimbledon and the delights of the Championships.

Following the success of Sunday’s play under the new retractable roof, tennis fans will have the opportunity to see for themselves the latest attraction to Centre Court first hand from a superb vantage point facing the Royal Box. 

With the 2009 Wimbledon Championships’ just around the corner tennis enthusiasts can satisfy their anticipation with all the tour has to offer. Not only does this include where the Championships’ action happens on Centre Court and No.1 Court, but the chance to explore many of the competitors’ facilities in the Millennium Building, and, in the next few weeks, to enjoy Witnessing the build up to the world’s greatest tennis event. .

The 90 minute behind-the-scenes Tour is lead in English but is also available for pre-booked groups in ten languages – English, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Indonesian and Malay, giving international visitors an even more personalised in-depth look at Wimbledon.

The Museum is an integral part of the daily Wimbledon tour.  WLTM combines state-of-the-art interactive touch screens with its unparalleled collection of traditional and contemporary tennis memorabilia, all exploring the story of the game and the Wimbledon Championships, from past to present, in a vibrant and entertaining way. 

The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum experience includes:

  • New Fred Perry Exhibition dedicated to the last Englishman to win at Wimbledon, includes his 1936 Renshaw Cup

  • The Science of Tennis filmed on Centre Court being shown in the 200˚ Cinema with amazing computer generated 3-D effects

  • John McEnroe ‘live’ in a reconstruction of the 1980’s Gentlemen’s Dressing Room

  • Highlights of any Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Championship Finals match from 1970 to 1999

  • The renowned Championships’ trophies
